Are stable atropisomers possible for meta-meta’ linked biphenols

چکیده

This paper describes the synthesis, structure, conformation and configurational stability of novel 8-atom meta-meta’ linked biaryls, as models for controlling ratio atropisomers through remote central chirality. The synthesis model compounds is described where configuration linker provided by reduced C4 C6 sugars. Their properties have been examined X-ray, NMR ECD. Taken together, they provide information on linking chain in each case indicate a barrier to atropisomerisation region 55 kJ mol?1. For diastereomeric compounds, preferred atropisomer defined backbone secondary methyl groups. Computational analysis confirms direction axial chirality from ECD spectra offers distinction between (R,R,R,R) (S,R,R,S) C6-isomers.
